Managed and owned by Roger Peralta, Finca La Argentina produces the best coffee in Nicaragua. A family run business the plantation is surrounded by spectacular mountainous scenery,interspersed by forests where a diversity of indigenous trees, flora and fauna thrive abundantly. With its own wet mill the farm’s coffee harvest takes place from December to March. The beans are part dried having been gently fermented in spring water from the mountains. The coffee is then laid out in the sun, cooled by balmy breezes and systematically raked to make sure each bean is dried properly.
Impeccable attention to quality control is an integral part of coffee production at Finca Argentina and this work was rewarded in January 2010 when the farm achieved certification by Rainforest Alliance. In looking after the land those who work for the Finca, it hopes to achieve more accolades in the future. For this reason they are planting a diversity of tree species around the plantation.
The named estate, single origin coffee produced is simply exquisite for cafetiere or filter enjoyment–discernible and refreshing. Ethiopian Mocha Djimmah is a full bodied dark roasted coffee with the nutty flavour of treacle and molasses, it’s something that should definitely be on the morning coffee menu.
